Nicknamed ‘The Ironmen’ Merthyr RFC are one of the leading rugby union clubs in Wales and one of the 11 clubs who founded the WRU. In recent years the club has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the Leagues achieving promotion to the WRU Principality Premiership last season. Our near neighbours, The College Merthyr Tydfil is a brand new modern tertiary college which opened on 2nd September 2013. The college is celebrating a record year of recruitment with over 2,000 students enrolling to study A levels or vocational courses this year. All courses are now full with a number of areas already taking lists and applications ready for 2017 entry.
